Tumbled and aged paving

Tumbled paving is rolled in a drum after cutting, which softens the edges and wears the surface so the stone looks as if it has been in place for decades. It is ideal for period homes, barn conversions and cottage gardens where new, crisp paving would look out of place.

Historical York and Indian York recreate the look of reclaimed Yorkstone at a fraction of the cost. Moon Grey limestone has a softer, aged grey tone, Tumbled Raj Green brings warm autumn colours, and Black Galaxy quartzite adds a dramatic dark finish with gold flecks.

Frequently asked questions

Is tumbled paving the same as reclaimed stone?

No. Tumbled paving is new stone that has been aged by machine, so it gives a reclaimed look with consistent sizes and thicknesses that are easier to lay.

Can tumbled paving be laid with tight joints?

The softened edges suit slightly wider joints, which add to the traditional look. Pointing with a jointing compound in a matching colour gives a neat finish.

Does tumbled paving suit modern homes?

It works best with traditional or rustic properties. For modern homes, sawn and honed or porcelain paving usually suits better.
